About Skinners Field and Trial dog food

The Skinner’s mill is an ever-present, well-known feature of the Suffolk landscape. The family’s mill has stood on this very spot since 1688, and has been in the Skinner family for seven generations.

When they decided to take the pioneering decision of moving into dry Dog Food production in the 1970s, the two original products – Dog Meal and Dog Food, targeted at local gundogs and wildfowlers’ dogs – proved highly popular, and their name has persisted ever since.

In the 1980s, Skinner’s, with the help of top nutritionists, branched out into other feed types. Ruff & Ready was the next to take off in the 1980s, not only with the owners of active dogs but also with owners who showed their dogs too. The range broadened even further in the 1990s, with the advent of the Field and Trial range.

Whilst this originally offered only Crunchy and Muesli options, today the Field and Trial range comes in nine specifically formulated diets, including hypoallergenic offerings. Though Skinner’s have always catered to the working dog, they are proud to supply to a vast range of pet owners today, with a huge variety of needs.
