Frequently Asked Questions

What is tripe and why is it good for dogs?

Tripe is the stomach lining of ruminant animals — in this case used as a palatable, protein-rich ingredient that dogs find highly appealing. Green (raw/unbleached) tripe in particular is naturally rich in digestive enzymes, Lactobacillus acidophilus (beneficial probiotic bacteria), and a near-ideal calcium-to-phosphorus ratio. These properties make it beneficial for gut health and digestion, and it is often recommended for dogs with sensitive stomachs or digestive issues. The Denes recipe uses tripe as a key flavourful ingredient alongside chicken and herbs.

Is this good for dogs with digestive problems?

Yes — Denes Adult with Chicken, Tripe & Added Herbs is particularly beneficial for dogs experiencing digestive issues including diarrhoea and loose stools. The combination of tripe (which supports gut flora and digestive enzyme activity) and added herbs (a longstanding feature of the Denes range) makes this recipe a good choice for dogs with sensitive digestion. If your dog has persistent digestive problems, consult your veterinarian.

Is this the same as the old Original with Chicken & Tripe?

Yes — this product was formerly known as Denes Original with Chicken & Tripe. The recipe is unchanged; only the name has been updated.

Does this contain artificial additives?

No — Denes Adult with Chicken, Tripe & Added Herbs is free from artificial colours, flavours, and preservatives. Denes Natural Petcare has been committed to natural, additive-free formulations since 1934.

How long will a case of 12 last?

This case contains 12 x 400g cans. For a medium adult dog fed approximately 400g per day, this case provides around 12 days’ worth of meals. For smaller dogs or when mixed with Denes Wholegrain Mixer, the case will last proportionally longer.
