Burns Original Lamb & Brown Rice Dog Food 14kg

Burns Original Lamb & Brown Rice is part of the iconic Burns Original range, formulated by Veterinary Surgeon John Burns MBE with the same simple philosophy behind all Burns diets: fewer, better ingredients make for a healthier dog. This recipe uses pasture-raised lamb as a novel protein source — making it an excellent choice for dogs sensitive to more common proteins such as chicken or beef — combined with brown rice, oats, peas and seaweed for wholesome, balanced nutrition.

Key Benefits

• Pasture-raised lamb — a novel protein source, less commonly used in dog foods and ideal for dogs with sensitivities to chicken, beef or other common proteins; single animal protein for easy digestion and allergen management
• Brown rice, oats & peas — wholesome, naturally digestible carbohydrate sources providing sustained energy and dietary fibre to support healthy digestion
• Seaweed — a natural source of iodine and trace minerals to support thyroid function, coat condition and overall vitality
• Supports healthy skin and coat — balanced nutrition from natural ingredients for a glossy coat and healthy skin
• Free from beef, wheat, soya and dairy — avoids the most common food intolerance triggers
• No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives — committed to clean, natural nutrition
• Suitable for adult and senior dogs of all breeds
• Free P&P on the 14kg bag

Suitable For

Adult and senior dogs of all breeds, particularly those with food sensitivities or intolerances to chicken, beef or other common proteins. The simple, digestible formula is especially well suited to dogs with sensitive stomachs, skin conditions linked to diet, or older dogs whose digestive systems may be more sensitive.

Feeding Guide

Daily feeding amounts vary by your dog’s weight and activity level. Refer to the feeding guide on pack for specific recommendations. Transition gradually over 7–10 days when switching foods, especially if moving from a chicken-based diet. Always ensure fresh, clean water is available at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose lamb over chicken for my dog?

Lamb is a novel protein — it is less commonly used in mainstream dog foods, making it a valuable option when a dog has developed a sensitivity or intolerance to chicken or beef. Because the immune system is less likely to have been previously exposed to lamb protein, it is less likely to trigger an adverse food reaction in sensitive dogs.

What is seaweed doing in dog food?

Seaweed is a natural source of iodine, which supports healthy thyroid function, as well as a range of trace minerals and antioxidants. It contributes to coat condition and overall vitality and is a classic Burns ingredient reflecting the brand’s commitment to wholesome, natural nutrition.

Is Burns Original Lamb & Brown Rice hypoallergenic?

Burns Original Lamb is formulated without common food intolerance ingredients including beef, wheat, soya and dairy, and uses a single animal protein source (lamb), making it a great choice for dogs with sensitivities. While not a veterinary hypoallergenic diet, it avoids the most common dietary triggers and uses a novel protein that many sensitive dogs tolerate well.

Is this suitable for senior dogs?

Yes — Burns Original Lamb & Brown Rice is suitable for both adult and senior dogs. Its simple, digestible formula is particularly well suited to older dogs whose digestive systems may be more sensitive.

How does this differ from Burns Original Chicken & Brown Rice?

The recipe is very similar in structure and philosophy, with the key difference being the protein source. Lamb is a novel protein and a good alternative for dogs who have developed a sensitivity to chicken. If your dog has been on the chicken recipe and developed skin or digestive issues, switching to the lamb recipe is a sensible first step under veterinary guidance.

Does Burns contain artificial additives?

No — Burns Original contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. The brand is committed to simple, natural nutrition.

Is this a complete dog food?

Yes — Burns Original Lamb & Brown Rice is a complete dog food containing all the nutrients your dog needs in the correct proportions. No additional supplementation is required.
