Bored Dog How To Prevent It

Bored Dog How To Prevent It

Sadly these days a lot of owners are very busy, and don't always have the time to spend with their dogs. It's not fair on a dog to be left to their own devices all day, as they can become very frustrated when bored. There are plenty of things you can do to prevent your dog from become bored. If you know you have a busy week ahead, plan some things that will help to keep your dog occupied. When dogs become destructive, often it's simply because they are bored and haven't had enough exercise. If you want to your dog to be happy and healthy instead of unhappy and destructive, then make sure you keep their mind active. Here are some ways to prevent your dog from getting bored.

Training

Try and do regular training with your dog. Just doing ten minutes of training a day can tire them out and give them some much needed mental stimulation. It will also improve their obedience too!

Brain games

You can get Interactive Toys for your dog. Brain games can really get your dog's mind thinking and keep them busy. Click here to purchase an interactive game for your dog by Nina Ottosson.

Agility

Take your dog to agility classes or try a new dog sport such as Cani X or Flyball. This will give your dog both mental and physical stimulation.

Leave toys while you are out

When you leave your dog at home alone, make sure they have some toys to play with when you are out. They will then be less likely to become bored and will have something to do when left alone.

Play with your dog

Don't forget to spend time interacting with your dog. As well as giving them cuddles, try and take some time out of your busy schedule to play with your dog. They will really appreciate it and it will help prevent them from getting bored.

Get them a companion

Some dogs are much happier with another canine companion around. Having another dog around will keep them occupied and give them company when left at home alone.

Exercise

If you suspect your dog is bored, the best thing to do is to provide them with plenty of exercise. Increase your daily walks and let them spend more time outside in the garden exploring.

Scent games

Playing scent games is an excellent way of giving your dog some much needed mental stimulation. Hide treats around your home, play hide and seek, get them to find treats under cups and get them to search for their favourite toys.
