A few pointers that will help you to buy the appropriate dog food

Dog owners are often confused about the kind of food they give to their dogs. Many types of commercial dog food are available at online pet stores. These are made whilst keeping in mind the dog’s nutritional requirements.

There are generally two kinds of dog food; raw dog food and 'dry dog food'.

Raw dog food is sometimes preferred as the best choice to supply adequate nutritional requirements for a dog. Raw dog food provides the necessary elements required for the dog’s growth and for it to live a healthy life.

Raw food, as the name suggests, is a mixture of raw food – meat, fibre and starch. Dogs love meat but should also be given vegetables. Carrots, broccoli and other fibrous vegetables could help the dog maintain perfect growth and help them to fight against disease.

Dry dog food is easy and convenient for a dog owner. One should however, check the ingredients and nutritional value of that particular pet food. Also, look for any preservative or artificial colours in the dry food. Dry food may be a combination of lamb and rice, chicken and vegetables, etc. Such products could be made from fresh salmon, potato, oats, beet pulp, maize, refined poultry fat, salmon oil, minerals and vitamins. Commercial dry dog food fulfils a dog’s nutritional requirements by supplying proteins, vitamins A, D, E, minerals, oils and fibre, etc.
