If you are a dog lover and you want to meet other people who share your passion, don't worry, there are plenty of places you can go. People who adore dogs can talk about them for hours, and it's nice to be able to talk to people who are interested in dogs, rather than constantly boring uninterested friends. Here are ten places where you can meet fellow dog lovers.

  1. At dog shows

Head to a dog show and you will see plenty of dog lovers. They are also a great place to see all the different breeds in one place. Crufts is the obvious one to go to but there are plenty of dog shows all year round across the country. Find one that's local to you so you can meet dog lovers who live in your area.

  1. At popular dog events

As well as dog shows there are other dog events that are worth attending. For example, 'Discover Dogs' in London is an excellent event for anyone who is fond of dogs. You can talk to dog owners of all the different breeds and ask questions. There are also displays, shows and canine sports.


  1. On canine courses

If you are really serious about your passion for dogs then why not take a qualification. If you sign up to a behaviour or grooming course they will be other students you can talk to about dogs.


  1. In your local park

A bit of an obvious one but probably one of the best places to meet dog owners. If you take your dog to the same park on a regular basis you will get to know other dog owners. People in dog parks can't help themselves chatting about their dogs.

Take your dog to a local dog training or obedience class and you can chat to all the other people taking part. You can swap stories and discuss the behavioural challenges you have had with your dog.

Head to your local dog rescue centre and you will come across lots of people who care about dogs. If you have some spare time you could even volunteer a few hours to help the rescue centre. This will give you more of a chance to get to know people.

You can meet fellow dog lovers simply by taking your dog to dog friendly places near you and around the country.

Agility and Flyball classes are also a good place to meet other dog owners. You will get to know the dogs in your class and it provides great exercise and mental stimulation for your dog.

There are so many different groups you can join on social media websites. There are sites and Facebook groups dedicated to different dog breeds and rescue organisations. You can ask the other members questions and keep up to date with news.
