New improved recipe with added Verm-X®
Mr Johnson's Supreme JUNIOR AND DWARF RABBIT MIX is a fibrous, nutritious and wholesome blend of steam flaked peas, carrots, cereals, pellets, extrusions & herbs - supplying your rabbit with a tasty, healthy food in a variety of textures to encourage your rabbit’s natural foraging instinct.
Feeding the correct diet to your rabbit is essential for maintaining good health. Rabbits require high fibre levels in their diet to aid normal digestive function and aid essential dental wear.
Mr Johnson’s Supreme JUNIOR AND DWARF RABBIT MIX rabbit food is a complementary feed for junior & dwarf rabbits in particular and should be fed together with unlimited access to good quality hay which is a good source of fibre and an essential part of your rabbit’s diet. A small quantity of fresh greens should also be fed daily and fresh clean water should always be available.
Overcoming selective feeding:
Rabbits, if overfed, can sometimes selectively feed and may leave their less favourite ingredients in the bowl until last, resulting in an unbalanced diet and nutritional deficiency.
To help overcome selective feeding your rabbit should be fed twice a day, dividing their daily requirements into two meals, feeding morning and evening but only refilling the bowl once empty.
Changing your rabbits diet:
Your rabbit’s diet should never be altered suddenly as abrupt changes could trigger digestive upsets, especially in baby rabbits or rabbits that are stressed (for example if they have moved to a new home). If you want to alter your rabbit’s diet, it is recommended that this change takes place gradually over a 7-10 day period. This can be done by mixing small quantities of the new food with their existing food and increasing the proportions until it is fully changed over.
Feeding Advice: Mr Johnson's Supreme junior & dwarf rabbit mix
A rabbits diet should be made up of 85 - 90% of fresh clean good quality hay an essential fibre source and one that mimics their natural diet in the wild. Hay plays a vital part in dental wear and a rabbit's digestive function. Feed this with a carefully measured portion of Mr Johnson's Supreme junior & dwarf rabbit as reccomended on the packaging dependant on the weight of your rabbit for a balanced diet. A daily portion of suitable fresh greens should also be fed, with fresh clean water being available 24 hours a day.
How much hay should rabbits eat and how often? Rabbits need unlimited access to fresh clean good quality hay 24 hours a day. No one likes dirty, stale food so yesterday’s hay can be used in their bedding area or thrown away and a nice fresh pile of hay should be available daily. Remember to check their hay during the day to ensure they don’t run out and have access to it 24 hours a day, rabbits will continue to graze throughout the night.
