Burns Dried Whole Plantain 100g

Our natural Plantain should be fed alongside hay and fresh greens (wild plants, herbs or vegetables) and a small amount of dry food as part of a healthy diet. Feeding Plantain and other herbs provides your rabbits with a varied and interesting diet which reflects their natural feeding habits.

Plantain can be fed as a really tasty, low fat treat or it can also be used to encourage your rabbit to eat more hay. Try sprinkling the Plantain through the hay to encourage foraging behaviour whilst making the hay tastier! Hay should form at least 80% of your rabbit’s diet. Check out our feeding pyramid for more information.

For a really healthy diet, try substituting some dry rabbit food for our Plantain and other herbs. Plantain is naturally low in fat and high in fibre making it excellent for maintaining a regular digestive system whilst also promoting dental health.

Feeding Guide

Ideally the diet of the pet rabbit, guinea pig or chinchilla should mimic that of their wild cousins. Grass and hay must be the bulk of the diet. Hay should always be available and supplemented with fresh vegetables, wild plants and herbs. Dry pelleted food and cereal mixes should form the smallest part of the diet. Young, pregnant or nursing rabbits or those housed outdoors may need more high fibre dry pelleted food.

Hay is the foundation of the feeding pyramid and should not be considered as simply bedding material. A variety of hay and grass should form the bulk of the diet as its high fibre content supports digestive function. Chewing hay and grass also helps to promote healthy teeth.
