Dog Rakes & Combs

Dog comb & rake buying guide
You may be wondering what a dog rake is used for. It’s a special type of comb that can get deep into thick coats. If your dog has a thick double coat, then you will need a dog rake in order to get into the loose undercoat, without damaging the topcoat.
It can be hard work trying to get a brush or a comb through ridiculously thick hair. If you are using the wrong brush you won’t do a very good job, that’s where an undercoat rake can help.
Brushing out all that undercoat can help to get rid of dead hair and getting rid of excess hair can help to keep your dog cool and comfortable. Undercoat rakes can also help to detangle the hair and will leave your dog’s coat looking fabulous.
These rakes a specially designed with stepped teeth that reach right under your dog’s coat. When you move it through your dog’s fur you will feel the difference from using a normal Dog Brush, as you can get through more hair and reach deeper.

Choosing the right dog grooming comb
Dog combs can help your dog in several different ways, from getting rid of knots to enabling you to identify parasites on your dog and leave them looking at their best. It can get a bit confusing with all the grooming tools out there, but every dog owner needs a decent comb to help keep their dog’s coat in top condition.
You can use a slicker brush to groom your dog, but these brushes won’t get all the tangles and knots out. If you use a comb you can gently tease all the knots out and ensure your dog has been brushed properly.
Combs can also help you to identify any lumps and bumps on your dog, as you will feel them as you run the comb through their skin. Make sure you are very gentle, don’t hack away at knots with your comb, comb small bits of fur at a time and don’t apply too much pressure on their skin.
